Heated Rush

Heated Rush (Harlequin Blaze) by Leslie Kelly

From the back of the book:

You know you’re hard up when you have to buy a date…

But Annie Davis’s big family reunion is looming, and she needs a stand-in man fast or she’ll never hear the end of it. Any gorgeous guy will do. Her solution? The drop-dead-sexy man at the charity bachelor auction. His good looks and blue-collar background make him perfect for her! Or is he?

Sean Murphy has a bit of a surprise for Annie. Not only is he not blue-collar, he’s actually a sophisticated European entrepreneur, one who’s made pleasuring women an art form. And he wants to permanently pleasure Annie! But Sean knows that if she discovers his secret, their wickedly delicious liaison will be over. Lucky for both of them, he’s learned enough tricks to keep Annie distracted for a long, long time…

This is the second book in The Wrong Bed: Again and Again. The first book is Slow Hands. This book has two very lovable characters. Annie is the ultimate girl next door. She was raised by an extremely overprotective family and longs for a life on her own terms. After moving away from home and starting her own child care facility those dreams are coming true. The only dark spot in her life is she doesn’t have a man to take home for her parent’s anniversary party. Enter Sean Murphy. This man is sex personified. He is charming, kind, and has an Irish accent. The chemistry between Annie and Sean is hot, but there is also a tenderness between the two of them. I enjoyed the way he takes care of her and makes sure that she is happy. I really recommend reading this book.

Dial M for Mischief

Dial M For Mischief (Hqn Romance) by Kasey Michaels

From Amazon:
Meet the Sunshine girls—three mischievous sisters out to clear their father’s name…and maybe get a little romance on the side.
Hollywood darling Jolie Sunshine is accustomed to trashy headlines. But the shocking gossip surrounding her father’s sudden demise has sent her over the edge… right into the arms of millionaire Sam Becket.
Jolie and Sam once shared much more than a bed, till fame ended their escalating relationship. Now that very limelight is bringing them back together. With a murder to solve and a white-hot passion to quench, they’re really about to give the paparazzi a field day.

This is the first book in a new series by Kasey Michaels. It has a slight connection to the Beckets of Romney Marsh (Sam is a Becket). This book is more mystery than romance. There is both, but the book mainly focuses on solving the four unsolved crimes left by the Sunshine girl’s father and his death. I really liked how the sister’s came together, but they each had their own way of grieving. These three girls are very different in their temperaments. The romance in the book is very subtle and is about the couple finding their way back to each other. The only thing that bothered me about the story was how easily everything came together for Jolie and Sam. It seemed that the 5 years they had been apart didn’t amount to much and they just jumped right back to being together. I would have liked a little more apprehension at allowing themselves to be a couple again. (Jolie did show the fear of being with Sam, but Sam just kind of jumped right back in with both feet) I cannot wait for book #2 Mischief Becomes Her, which comes out in November.

Wilde Thing

Wilde Thing by Janelle Denison

First, I want to say how much I love the Wilde series. I have read three of the stories and can’t wait to finish the series.

Wilde Thing is about oldest brother Steve Wilde. Having been burned in love before he likes the carefree way he conducts his affairs. Then he meets Liz Adams.

Liz Adams has a disastrous marriage to a “bad boy” in her past and won’t ever fall for one again. But there is something about Steve that she can’t stop thinking about.

When Liz’s cousin goes missing she turns to Steve to help her find him. Phone sex, fetish parties, and fantasies pave the way for a love that is more than either of them were prepared for.

This was a very sexy story. Liz and Steve are electric. But this story is also very romantic. Both Steve and Liz have been hurt before in love and have to work through those issues before that can be happy, either together or apart. I think this story taps into one of those universal truths that you have to love yourself before you can love someone else. Liz has to get over several choices she has made in the past before she and Steve can have a “happily ever after”.

If He Only Knew……

If He Only Knew… (Harlequin Blaze) by Debi Rawlins

Sara Wells is an southern heiress who has every thing she could ever want, except privacy. So she decides to takes a year off to enjoy a “normal” life.  Although she has her law degree she goes to work as a temp in a NY law firm.

Cody Shea is a partner in the firm where Sara is working. He is intrigued by the southern belle, but knows that she is off limits, both as an employee and someone of a lower social class. He follows her back home to Atlanta hoping to get her out of his system, but somethings don’t work out the way we plan.

This was a cute story. The mincommunications and misrepresentations throughout made it very enjoyable to read. Cody Shea comes across like a man with a very big ego and Sara comes across a little deceiving. I think it is these characteristics that make the story work. If he was all things gentlemanly and she was a perfect lady it would not have gripped the reader and romantic in me.

One Night Stand

One Night Stand by Cindy Kirk

Everyone knows that weddings are the perfect place to hookup. Marcee Robbens takes this little fact to heart and decides to find a man at her best friends wedding. Not looking for a relationship, Marcee wants a man for one night only.

Sam McKelvey is a single dad who takes his responsibilities as a father and a cop seriously. He isn’t one to have a one night stand, but there is something about Marcee that he can’t resist.

Having a one night stand turn out to be your new next door neighbor could be very awkward…or very hot!

This was a great book. In the beginning Marcee seems a little to full of herself and brash. Throughout the book we get to see her grow as a woman and really find out who she is. The chemistry between Marcee and Sam is HOT! With a side story of a developing relationship between Sam’s daughter and Marcee’s brother, this book has something for everyone, new love and everlasting love.

Don’t look Down

Posted on April 29, 2008. Filed under: Romance | Tags: , |

Don’t Look Down by Suzanne Enoch

Samantha Jellicoe is a reformed thief. No, really, she is. Working to set up her legitimate security business doesn’t give her the same thrill as a good B & E, but her new man does. Rick Addison is the man that is in many a woman’s dream. He is rich, good looking, and romantic. Hopefully, Sam can keep on the straight and narrow and be with him for a long time. Everything is going well until an almost-client turns up dead and Sam has to find out who did it.

This is the second book featuring Sam and Rick and it is just as good as the first. Sam and Rick make a wager regarding Sam’s ability to solve the mystery before the police. The chemistry between Sam and Rick is just as hot as it was in the first book. The development of their relationship is something that you usually don’t see in romance novels. They aren’t an instantly happy and stable couple. They are working the kinks out as they go along like in real life.

Jinxed! (Harlequin Blaze, No. 303)by Jacquie D’Alessandro, Jill Shalvis, Crystal Green

Harlequin Blaze February 07

Blame it on Karma by Jacquie D’Allessandro – Lacey Perkins owns a sexy coffee shop and is sick of putting up with her property manager, Evan Sawyer. Even Sawyer doesn’t want to be attracted to Lacey, but can’t get her out of his head.

Together Again? by Jill Shalvis – After being separated for 10 years, Chloe Cooper sees her former lover across from her at a party. Ian McCall is instantly drawn to the one woman that has made him feel whole, but there are things that will have to be dealt with before he can make her his.

Tall, Dark & Temporary by Crystal Green – Erin Holland and Wes Ryan are taking a romantic cruise. Erin has been upfront with Wes from the beginning that he is her “transition” man. But is that all he wants to be?

The stories are tied together by a fortune teller imparting her wisdom about true love!

This was a sexy, fun read. I loved the way that each story flowed into the next, the characters being mentioned in stories other than their own. Each story was romantic and packed full of sex!! My favorite was Blame it on Karma!

Life Without Raine

Life without Raine by Michele Bardsley

After having their future destroyed in one lifetime, Raine and Conner have to fight to find each other and conquer the evil that came between them. 800 years has passed and Conner has finally found Raine. He isn’t going to let her go this time since he feels there is no life without her.

This story is HOT! and very romantic. The yearning expressed by Conner at finding his love, and not being able to completely have her until she knows everything, is strong. I felt for him and for Raine. Their love seemed very strong and unbreakable even though time and other factors had come into play. The action plays out very quickly and there isn’t much time to decide who you think the characters in the future match up with those of the past, but I don’t think that hurts this story at all. In fact, I think it adds to the passion and the feelings that the story evoke in the reader. There isn’t any time to “think” about what you are reading, you just feel it.

This is an e-book that can be found at Loose Id, LLC.

Molly Gifford left the one man that could love her behind to find herself. To her, family is everything and she found out that the man she thought was her father wasn’t after all. After finding a father, who loves her, and sisters, who idolize her, she is blindsided by the arrest of her father. Overcoming their past and the troubles in the present to have a future will be a tough road for Molly and Hunter.

This was a touching, fun, and sexy book. It revisits characters from Cross My Heart and ends a story that started in that book beautifully.

Tex Appeal: Real Good Man\Unbroken\I Can Still Feel You…

(Harlequin Blaze)

by Kimberly Raye, Alison Kent, Cara Summers

Harlequin Blaze, February 08

This is a collection of three hot novellas.

Real Good Man by Kimberly Ray – Cheryl Anne Cash has left her old self behind and become a “carnal coach”. She hopes to put her lessons to work on an old flame.

Unbroken by Alison Kent – Dr. Tess Autrey is writing an article about buckle bunnies and the rodeo men they lust after. What is she to do when she can’t stop thinking about an ex-rodeo champ?

I Can Still Feel You by Cara Summers – Chef Macy was left two months ago by her Texas Ranger. Now he is back and she is dishing up some romance he won’t be able to resist.

All of these stories were great. Each story fits together through a Valentines Day 01newspaper contest being done in three Texas towns. The character development was really strong, which I didn’t expect in stories of this length. This was a hot, fast, romantic read. (And the cover is extremely HOT!!!)

The Wicked Ways Of The Duke

The Wicked Ways of a Dukeby Laura Lee Guhrke

Seamstress Prudence Bosworth is a 28 year old “girl-bachelor” in 1894. She longs for an exciting life of wealth and romance. An inheritance from a distant relative gives her extreme wealth. The only stipulation is that she has to marry within a year or forfeit the money. When she met the Duke of St. Cyres it seems the her dream of romance will also come true.

Rhys De Winter, the Duke of St. Cyres is broke. The only way he can avoid bankruptcy is to marry an heiress. But St. Cyres is as wicked as they come. He lives only for himself and no one else. Can he find someone to marry him and save his estates?

This was a good book, but I didn’t like Rhys De Winter at all. His character was deceiving and selfish. By the end of the book, I felt I understood why he was this way, but I still didn’t like him. The story was great and I think if St. Cyres had been a lovable character the book wouldn’t have been as good.

Now, her publisher expects her to writ a book with him. The tension between these two is great. Their love/hate relationship is interesting and kept me engaged to the end.

Get a Clue

Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis

Breanne Mooreland has been left at the alter, again. Deciding to go on her honeymoon by herself, she finds herself in a lodge in the Sierra mountains with a mystery man. Ex-vice cop Cooper Scott is on his first vacation in a long time and the last thing he wanted was an insane woman watching him in the shower.

The attraction between these two is intense. Add in a really crazy staff, a dead body, and a freak snowstorm and these two are in for quite a week.

This book was good, but I think it could have been better. I loved the couple and their sexual tension, but the dead body and ensuing mystery is something I could have done without. It seemed extremely secondary to the love story between Breanne and Cooper.
